Ford English differential bearing sizes for Tran-x limited slip diffs

posted on 30 July 2014 | posted in Ford English diff and axle information

If you have a Tran-x limited slip diff fitted to your Ford English axle you may need to check the bearing sizes when changing them. This will also apply in the future to 3JDrivelines and already to some large spline halfshaft Quaife ATB diffs.

You will often find they are about 3mm larger on the inside diameter than the standard Ford type.

The approximate inside diameter of the Ford differential carrier bearing is 34.75mm and the larger non-standard type is about 38mm

The diameters are the same on the outside where the bearing sits into the housing journal

The pic below will show the difference, hardly noticeable without a measuring tool.
